Wellbeing at St Ives High School

In response to the increasing level of anxiety in the community regarding coronavirus, there is some recently released information posted on the school website.  

The information sheets outline some useful strategies and explanations which can help both adults and children cope with the stress or anxiety experienced as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. 

School Counselling Services

 

Who are our school counsellors?

School counselling staff are members of the school learning and support team.

Our school counsellors are registered psychologists who have extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families.

Our Counsellors are:

  • Mrs Emmy Druce for Years 7, 9, 11 (Mon, Thurs, Fri) and
  • Ms Louise Dique for Years 8, 10, 12 (Tues, Wed, Fri) on 9144 1689

How do I make contact?

Students can self-refer to the service by making an appointment directly with the school counsellor, leaving a note with the Office or completing the student online referral form here

If the matter is urgent or an emergency, please contact your GP, local hospital or call:   

  1. Immediate safety concerns, contact ‘000’
  2. Children between 0-17 years with complex mental health concerns who live in the Hornsby or Ku-ring-gai Local Government Areas,– Hornsby Child & Youth Mental Health Service: (02) 9485 6155 between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Mon.– Fri.
  3. Mental Health Crisis Line for referral services – 1800 011 511
  4. Youth Beyond Blue - 1300 22 4636  Open 24/7 from 3pm to midnight

A teacher may recommend the service by referring a student to the school’s learning and support team.

As a parent or carer, you may refer your child directly to the school counselling service, by calling or emailing the school.  Please find our online referral form here.
