Principal's message

Welcome to our school. St Ives High School has a long tradition of student excellence in curriculum, the arts and on the sporting field. We have an established Gifted & Talented Program that offers both enrichment and extension. Our hearing support unit offers educational programs for students with partial hearing.

The school has a multicultural student body that supports and celebrates cultural diversity through its multicultural days. We offer extensive support for students from non-English speaking backgrounds. We are a proud local co-educational comprehensive government high school serving Sydney's leafy North Shore.

With an experienced and dedicated staff, St Ives High School offers a broad and diverse curriculum that can be tailored to the needs of individual students. In addition, our extra curricular programs in the performing arts, dance, band, musicals and student leadership allow us to provide a well-rounded education for our students.

Our global learning focus has enabled students to visit Spain, Italy, China, Japan, France, USA, and England in recent years. In addition, we host many visits from overseas schools.

We have sister school agreements with Junten High School in Tokyo, Japan and Number 51 Middle School in Tianjin, China. In 2018 we have a language tour leaving for Spain, and a visual arts tour to Europe.

A strong, dynamic and very supportive parent body enhances the operation of the school. The parents and citizens (P&C) association operates the school uniform shop. Their funding allows us to run our leadership and sports programs.

Our school's excellent facilities include extensive sporting and playing fields, a fully refurbished library and a $3 million trade training centre that includes two commercial kitchens. Our extensive wireless computer network supports school and student technology devices.

We work closely with our partner primary schools, St Ives, St Ives Park and St Ives North through our stagecoach program.

The program provides Year 6 students in these schools with high school experience over a school term. We are a proud member of the North Shore Five (NS5) partnership between Killara, Chatswood, Turramurra and Ku-ring-gai high schools. The NS5 is an innovative and collaborative partnership that provides our students with a 21st century education.
