BYOD, Printing and Technical Support

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

In 2016 we commenced the implementation of a BYOD program for our students.

Students bring their own devices to school and utilise them in all subjects for a wide range of learning activities.

Devices we currently support include Apple MacBooks and iPads, Windows Laptops and Android tablets. We do not encourage Apple iPhones, Android Phones as well as Chromebooks and Linux OS. Although these will work, there is limited support.

Please view the document BYOD Specification 2023 outlining the minimal specifications suitable for students. This document will be updated each year inline with current technological standards.

The SIHS mobile phone policy changed since term 4, 2022 and is in line with the Term 4, 2023 NSW government policy on Mobile phone ban in Public Schools. The use of phones is no longer allowed during the school day. Phones must be switched off and placed in bags unless there is a valid reason to use them; for instance if a student needs their phone to operate a medical device.

SIHS encourages the healthy use of electronic devices outside of school hours.

Printing

SIHS now offers Papercut Follow Me printing, allowing students to print and collect their documents from any printer around the school. Printing remains a payable resource with 10c for BW pages and 20c for Colour pages. To save money, students are encouraged to print double sided when possible.

To add money to your account, students can go to the Front Admin Office and purchase a redemption code to the equivalent of $1, $2, $5 and $10 and redeem on the Papercut WebPrint Portal. A link to this page is posted on Year Group Google Classroom. For more info please see your Year Adviser.

Please remember to bring your Student ID as this allows you to tap your card and login to retrieve your documents.

Students who undertake a Visual Arts course are allocated funds included in the course fees.

Papercut WebPrint portal also allows you to send funds to your siblings account if they are running low.
