In Human Society and its Environment (HSIE), the subjects of History and Geography are mandatory from Year 7 to Year 10.
In these two mandatory subjects, students learn specific historical and geographical concepts and skills. Students’ capacity to think critically about the world around them is fostered and developed with the aim of producing active global citizens.
In Years 9 and 10, students can choose elective subjects such as Commerce, Financial Literacy, Elective History and Elective Geography.
In Year 11 and 12, students can choose from a range of HSIE courses. These include:
Ancient History
Business Studies
Economics
Geography
History Extension
Legal Studies
Modern History
Society and Culture
Throughout 7-12, students will develop key skills in questioning, researching, analysing and making judgements based on evidence. Students will also learn to write for a variety of purposes.
