Scripture or Special Religious Education (SRE)
In NSW public schools, students can participate in optional Scripture classes, also known as Special Religious Education (SRE), during school hours. Parents can choose from a range of religious SRE options provided by approved organisations.
On enrolment parents and guardians will have the opportunity to choose when completing the enrolment application.
Special Religious Education is optional. Please contact us if you wish to withdraw your child from the program.
Scripture (SRE) at St Ives High School
SRE Day
SRE Days are run once a term by the Special Religious Education organisers. The dates are published on Sentral Daily Notices.
Scripture (SRE) providers
At St Ives High School, SRE lessons are provided by approved Protestant, Catholic, Baha'i, Jewish and Buddhist organisations.
Protestant Scripture
Protestant SRE provided by St Ives Christ Church who belong to the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. For more information about Protestant SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Anglican Diocese of Sydney website. Protestant scripture is offered for 40 minutes each fortnightly cycle.
Catholic Scripture
Catholic SRE is provided by the Corpus Christi Parish, St Ives, who belong to the Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay. Catholic scripture is offered for 55 minutes each term.
Baha'i Scripture
Baha’i SRE is provided by The Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Ku-ring-gai who belong to the Baha’i Council. For more information about Baha’i SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the Baha’i Council website. Baha’i scripture is offered for 55 minutes each term.
Jewish Scripture
Jewish SRE is provided by the NSW Board of Jewish Education (BJE). For more information about Jewish SRE, including the authorised curriculum scope and sequence, please visit the BJE website. Jewish scripture is offered for 55 minutes each term.
Buddhist Scripture
