Catching public transport
Public transport is a great way to safely get to and from school. St Ives has a unique drawing area with some students travelling considerable distances. Many students travel by train and bus to SIHS, so it is unlikely that your child will be travelling alone.
Catching a bus
Morning buses transport students to Yarrabung Road from locations such as Gordon Station and Terrey Hills. The afternoon buses leave Horace Street and Yarrabung Road outside the school between 3:20 pm - 3:45 pm (Mon, Wed-Fri) and after 2:15 pm on Tuesdays.
Students are supervised until the arrival of their particular bus. The majority of buses, pick up and drop off students at Gordon Station.

Driving and parking
The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.
When driving and parking near our school, please:
- ensure you park safely in school zones. Do not park across drive ways.
- follow speed signs at all times and obey the school zone speed limit of 40km/h that operate from 8:00 am to 9:30 am and 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm on school days as shown on the school zone signs. The lower speed limit improves safety.
- do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.
- do not park in the bus bay during bus hours.
Parking on school grounds
School grounds must be safe for all students, staff and visitors. Parking areas may be available for use by staff and contractors at the discretion of the principal. They must be aware of the need to take special care when driving on school grounds.
- senior students who drive to school are not permitted to park cars in staff car parks or school grounds.
- bicycles and scooters (including e-bikes and e-scooters) are not to be driven inside school grounds
- all Bicycles and scooters (including e-bikes and e-scooters) should be parked and locked in the bicycle and scooter racks provided at the two entrances to 'D' block.
