A strong start
Our school creates a welcoming and encouraging environment that embraces diversity, enabling students from different backgrounds to learn and grow together while deepening their social and cultural awareness. We offer a broad, challenging, and inspiring curriculum, supported by state-of-the-art facilities. Our learning environment is enriched through High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) pedagogy, complemented by a Department of Education-recognised "Lighthouse" Learning and Support team, and strengthened by strong community partnerships.
Our Transition Coordinator maintains positive links with our local primary schools and supports Year 6 students with their transition into high school. Working with the Year 7 Adviser, our Transition Coordinator can ensure a positive and happy experience for incoming students during a time that is characterised by significant change. We work closely with our primary schools to facilitate a questions and answers (Q&A) session between Year 6 students and our current students. Our Peer Support program, where Year 10 students provide our new Year 7 students with the practical skills and strategies to positively navigate life and relationships from Orientation Day forward.
Our strong culture of learning and our passion for extra-curricular activities is available for your child to find the things they love to do and to spend as much time as they can doing them whether it be music, sport, debating or learning a new language!
Year 7 camp
All students will have the chance to participate in a Year 7 camp. Students are encouraged and supported to participate in all activities. The camp provides great experiences for students and it is a wonderful opportunity to build new lifelong friendships with their peers. We cater for additional needs of all students.
Peer support
The Year 10 student Peer Leaders will work with Year 7 students in a peer counselling and mediation role from the Orientation Day. The training will emphasise skills such as listening, mentoring and mediation as well as fostering and promoting group discussion. This creates the opportunity to set up a support base that develops over a three year period. In Term 1, Peer Leaders guide new Year 7 students through a program that supports their transition to high school by becoming familiar with other year 7 and their new school. This will cultivate feelings of inclusion and mutual respect.
