Technological and applied studies

St Ives High School Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) department provides students with a broad spectrum of course choices from the TAS curriculum. Our facilities cater for classes undertaken in Industrial Technology Timber, Metal, Graphics and Multimedia, Software Engineering, Computing Software, Engineering, Textiles Technology and Food Technology.

All students in Year 7 & 8 complete a variety of projects under the four syllabus focus areas of Engineering, Digital technologies, Food and Agriculture, and Materials Technologies while studying Technology Mandatory.

Elective choices for TAS courses begin with our Year 8 elective classes which focus on the development of skill in the chosen area of Technology from outcomes in the Stage 4 syllabus. These skills courses include textiles design, food design, timber design, metal design and digital technologies/STEM.

The teachers in the TAS faculty incorporate incursions, workshops and excursions into their programs to enhance learning and to engage all types of learners.
