Trade Training Centre

St Ives High School is fortunate enough to house a Trade Training Centre for Vocational Education and Training (VET) of hospitality students, built in conjunction with the Sir Eric Woodward School and Distant Education Network which began with a grant in 2009.

The project occurred in two stages and has resulted in some of the highest quality hospitality training environments in the state. The first stage of the upgrade provided the opportunity to update the existing food technology kitchens in A Block. This resulted in a fully equipped commercial kitchen adjoining a fully functional interactive demonstration facility and NSW's only "connected kitchen".

Stage 2 of the project centred around the construction of an additional purpose built commercial kitchen building containing a café service area. The area outside the facility has outdoor seating, and functions both as a dining area and covered outdoor classroom.

The A Block kitchen reopened in 2011 and the new building was completed a year later in 2012. Both kitchens have been fully operational since 2015 and St Ives HS now delivers VET hospitality courses to Stage 5 and Stage 6 students.

Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.

Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.
